Sharing Session: Introduction to the Productivity-Linked Wage System (PLWS)

Activity Description

On 8 February 2024, a knowledge-sharing session was conducted at the Penang Industrial Relations Department. The session was held to provide early exposure to the Productivity-Linked Wage System (PLWS) to officers who were newly posted to the Penang Industrial Relations Department. The knowledge-sharing session was facilitated by Mr. Mohd Shariffudin Padzil, Chief Assistant Director of the Penang Industrial Relations Department. The session included a brief introductory briefing on PLWS, as well as a detailed explanation of the main focus areas of PLWS, such as the analysis of company performance in relation to productivity and competitiveness (strengths and weaknesses). In addition, exposure to the SMART Principles, as well as the methods and formulas applied—such as the determination of labour productivity, added value, and guidelines for assessing competitiveness—were also explained during the session.
