To monitor industrial relations developments and trends within the country to assist the government in reviewing the National Industrial Relations Policy and the National Labour Policy from time to time. |

Coordinating relations between employees' organizations to foster and maintain tripartite cooperation between the government, employers, and employees in the field of industrial relations. |

To encourage and assist in collective bargaining and joint consultation at the workplace to promote the practice of self-governance in industry and the concept of 'musyawarah' (consultation). |

Providing advisory services to employers, employees, employers' organizations, and employees' organizations to ensure good and healthy industrial relations practices. |

Providing conciliation services to prevent and resolve industrial disputes and industrial actions. |
